In New Hitman 2 Elusive Target, Agent 47 Hits His Biggest Target Yet – The Babadook

by Daniel

Earlier today, IO Interactive announced the successor to their very popular Sean Bean voiced elusive target. And it would appear that IO Interactive is going with yet another movie star. Yes, the next limited time target is none other than The Babadook, the titular character of the 2014 critically acclaimed Australian film.

Good morning, Mr Bald Postal-worker.

The Babadook will reside in Whittleton Creek, the suburban USA map. He is there terrorizing an unspecified single mom, attempting to get her to murder her admittedly fairly difficult only son. Whereupon, she would naturally take her own life. Agent 47 is tasked with tracking down the tricky Babadook and eliminating him by any means necessary. This will prove especially difficult as The Bababook is a spectral and possibly a metaphorical entity. Steve Gunderson, an IO Interactive executive, expanded on this in the quote below.

One of the things that really appeals to us about this character is that, in the original text, The Babadook was largely a metaphor for the mom’s depression and mental illness. Agent 47 has always been a rather melancholy figure and this character really allowed us to craft a mini story in this elusive target that addressed the deep existential dread that Agent 47 has been dealing with. I won’t give away the trick here but, suffice to say, Agent 47 must place his sights on himself before he can take down The Babadook.

In addition, in this update, we are adding several new dynamic assassination options on all maps, as part of our commitment to Hitman 2 as a live game. For example, you will be able to tie The Babadook to a hot air balloon.
