For the pornographic “camming” website known as www.chaturbate.com, New Year’s Eve has naturally proved to be one of their highest traffic days. Steve Gunderson, the head of public relations for Chaturbate, explained that they believe the high traffic stems from “People coming home after parties and maybe some people who want a little fun but aren’t in the mood for going out.”
What is different about this year is that a number of “cam” performers have caught onto the increased traffic and are actually planning out elaborate New Year’s Eve celebrations to capitalize. We spoke to five different popular performers who are planning to have streamers, balloons and other decorations to put their viewers in the mood. Consuming alcohol on stream is against Chaturbate guidelines so champagne is out of the question. But at least one performer will make the most of it with sparkling apple cider.
The most ambitious of the performers we spoke to, Lana Del Butt, actually started planning this year’s event in mid-June. She explains her plans below.
I have a bit of a background in set design so I’m really hoping to put together almost a little Time’s Square. I’m working with a small space but I managed to buy a special matt with a sidewalk pattern on it. There will be crowd noise and lights and a countdown and I’m even looking into getting a little hotdog cart. And of course there will be music and a little bit of bubbly. If I do my job right, I hope I’ll bring a little bite of big apple home to my viewers.
