This has been a harrowing twenty four hours for the entire country. The nation is still divided on how exactly to deal with Iran and if the assassination of General Soleimani was justified but I don’t think anyone, on either side of the aisle, truly wanted to go to war with Iran. And I do not agree with a lot of Trump’s handling of this issue but you do have to give him credit for one thing. At the end of the day, he stayed true to his anti-war beliefs and appears to be pursuing a more peaceful solution.
And whilst Hillary Clinton had a lot of good policy and experience behind her, she was known to be a bit of a hawk, when it comes to military intervention. In Trump’s shoes, I don’t know if she would have backed off and allowed room for a peaceful solution. All I’m saying if President Donald Trump had assassinated General Soleimani and Iran had responded with a ballistic missile barrage directed at one of our bases and Hillary Clinton was president then we might have found ourselves in a war with Iran. And nobody wants that.
So, in this instance, thank god we had Donald Trump as our president.
