It’s that time of the year again and millions of Americans are currently attending their annual open enrollment meetings for 2020. For those unfamiliar with this practice, employers in the United States generally offer these meetings annually so that employees can learn about their health insurance options and other optional HR benefits. After which, the employees generally have another ten business days to assess their options and choose their preferred plan for the following year.
Perhaps sensing that these meeting have entered into the public consciousness, former Vice President and presidential candidate Joe Biden choose to use these meeting to help differentiate him health care plan from other high profile candidates.
You see, the difference between myself and other candidates is choice. Right now, millions of American are having their annual enrollment meeting where some very nice people from the insurance companies, and most people actually like their insurance, and they come with pamphlets and free pens and they sit down with Americans and explain how their plan works. And then Americans get to choose what they feel will be best for their family.
Plans under Warren and Sanders and others would have that choice taken away. No more of the annual enrollment meetings. No one to sit down and explain their plan. I say, maybe let’s just let Karen from Blue Cross come to your conference room and bring all the pamphlets and free pens she wants.
