Overwatch’s weekend server maintenance crew is currently monitoring a dramatic nearly 800% increase in Lucio usage that began early today, just after midnight on the East coast of the United States. The team has declined to provide a breakdown between Quickplay, Arcade and Competitive but they have recalled several key Blizzard employees to serve as a sort of “emergency meta response unit.” Ever the micromanager, Jeff Kaplan himself will be among those forgoing their weekend plans to closely monitor the voicechat and play style of these Lucio players.
However, the sheer number of Lucio players makes it unlikely that their task will be completed without long hours of overtime. We will keep you updated as the beleaguered team over at Blizzard verifies if this increase is the result of a new exploit or if this new Lucio meta has a negative effect on high level play.
