Women With Neon Hair, They’re Just Like Us

by Daniel

In this modern culture that is so obsessed with looks, it is easy to write off or mystify people based upon how they look. I know I’ve definitely been guilty of that in the past and I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve all have been a little bit guilty of this at one time or another. Take, for example, women with bright neon colored hair. Take one glance and you can already imagine how they act. Depending on the shade, maybe she looks like a “manic pixie girl” or a “punk” or even a “goth.” There are a multitude of archetypes that we associate with the neon haired. But, even though she choose her hair color, you’re still making dismissive assumptions based on her hair color.

But if you really take the time to really keenly observe that neon hair girl sitting across from you at the coffee shop, you might just be surprised how “normal” she really. Look at her. She’s just a normal person enjoying a muffin and using the complementary wifi. Flesh and blood. And also a bit of hair dye, I guess. She’s sitting there listening to music, judging by the way she’s slightly bobbing her head. And what is she writing? Looks like an email. I’ve been there.

The truth is the modern neon haired woman comes from all different backgrounds and races. She may look like she comes from a vaguely Irish/Germanic origin but you can’t know a person’s full genealogy. It’s easy to imagine her living in a tine punk rock studio apartment in Van Nuys. She’s certainly walking in that direction. But she may still live with her parents or maybe she’s just parked nearby. You can’t assume. She could live in Koreatown for all you know. And whilst her body type and attire might not suggest a fitness nut, she might just surprise you. Some people, even the neon haired, will take any excuse to go on a quick run.
