When this new college freshmen, Stephan Gunderson, awoke on September 21st and put on his brand new “Sluggo is Lit” t-shirt, he never could have anticipated the tremendous tonal clash he was in store for. He had planned to spend the day idly browsing the internet at a cafe before taking in a comedy show later in the evening. Unfortunately the unthinkable had occurred and the police arrived mid venti mocha frappuccino to inform him his parents and younger siblings had been murdered in their own beds, the prior night.
Police stood stoically in this Glendale Starbucks, while the line bent around them, informing Stephan of his family’s fate. Upon seeing the young man in the Starbucks, long time police officer Sergeant Gregory Mayfield urged him that he would not want to the hear the grisly details but Stephan insisted. Sergeant Mayfield remarked on the grim sight of Stephan Gunderson taking it all in “That’s something I don’t think I’ll ever forget. I’ll take that image to my grave. That poor kid whose family was murdered was wearing a ‘Sluggo is Lit’ t-shirt.”
